Following a full year of fundraising for CLAN throughout 2017, READ Cased Hole is delighted to announce the total amount raised for the local cancer charity is a fantastic £2330.81.

Back at the start of 2017, the READ team voted unanimously to select CLAN as our charity of the year, and everyone in the company has demonstrated a real commitment to supporting CLAN by organising and getting involved in a wide variety of fundraising activities.

Ian Kerr, READ QHSE Manager said, “At the READ offices, there have been bakes sales, car washes, a BBQ, themed lunches, Christmas jumper day, a 500km static cycle challenge, a treat box in the staff kitchen, and donation boxes. Some of the team took their efforts further afield, running marathons, half marathons and 10Ks, and completing a step count challenge to raise funds for CLAN. We also held a furniture sale, and collected donations at our company Christmas dinner dance.”

In addition to financial support, the READ management looked at ways for staff to take time off work and volunteer their time to help the charity. For example, a small team from READ spent a morning at CLAN’s recently opened Inverurie premises to assemble furniture.

On 30th January 2018, we welcomed CLAN’s Fundraising Team Manager, Steph Dowling to the READ office to present the cheque.

Steph commented, “On behalf of everyone at CLAN Cancer Support, I would like to thank the team at READ Cased Hole for their support during 2017. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them throughout the year and having the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of CLAN’s work throughout the North East. It was great to see everyone get behind the various fundraising activities and it seems like they had a lot of fun along the way too!”

CLAN Cancer Support is a well-established local charity, providing emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends.
